Freda Annabelle Theresa Stevenson passed away on December 29, 2022 at the palliative care unit of the Victoria General Hospital. With her family by her side she showed great courage in her last days.
Freda was born to Lydia (Johnson) and John Stevenson. She was the last of her immediate family, Sister Margaret (Fred) Fraughton and brother Donald (Shirley) Stevenson.
Freda was a very proud Nova Scotian and Haligonian. She worked diligently for the city of Halifax for over 40 years. She took a keen interest in her work place and was an active member of her local union. Freda had a number of hobbies but her favorite was bowling. The church league seemed to be the most fun for her.
Freda’s commitment to her immediate family was her passion. She was generous and so kind hearted. Christmas and birthdays were always a witness to her continuing generosity. Freda somehow made sure that over 60 relatives for Christmas and birthdays would receive a fond reminder of the love she had for all of her family.
Freda is also remembered as a life time member of St. Theresa’s Parish and avid movie goer and reader. She packed a great sense of humor while enjoying her active social life, and when the opportunities arose she loved to travel.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral home. Visitation will take place Monday January 9, 2023 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home 2666 Windsor from 5pm-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday January 10, 2023 2pm in St. Theresa’s Church 6351 North Street Halifax, NS.
Freda’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and ambulance staff for their assistance in making Freda’s last days comfortable.
