Henneberry, Francis Augustus “Gus”, 94, of Sambro, passed away November 7, 2014, surrounded by his family, at the QE II Infirmary Site. Born in Sambro, he was the son of the late Gustavus and Helena (Twohig) Henneberry. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving in WWII from 1941 to 1945. He served two years with the Canadian Coast Guard. Gus was a commercial fisherman. His favourite fishing memory was harpooning 70 swordfish in one day. He was a member of various fisheries boards, and active in community improvement. He also served as a Trustee of Sambro School and was a supporter of St. Peter’s Church, Ketch Harbour. Gus is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Dora (Hunt); children Janice (Thomas Roos), Marsha (Ralph Single), Kenneth (Donna Whitenect), Kevin (Martha Brown); grandchildren David Tough (Shelley Manuel), Mitchell, Emily, Melissa, Connor, Logan, Garrett; great-grandchildren Michael Tough, Alexander Manuel-Freake; brothers Harold, Cyril, Daniel; and sister Velma (Bunny) Purcell. He was predeceased by grandson Trevor, and siblings Charles, Nora Baker, Alan, Llewellyn, Norman, Nettie Reyno and Vera Duggan. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax B3S 0E1 (902-455-0531). A celebration of life will take place, Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church in Ketch Harbour.
