Frances passed away in hospital on Friday, August 30. She was born in Halifax on July 15, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Edmund and Beatrice (Dimock) MacDonald. She was educated at Halifax Ladies College and then at Netherwood School, Rothesay, New Brunswick.
During the Second World War Frances drove for the Red Cross in Halifax. Throughout her lifetime she was involved in many charitable organizations both in an executive capacity and as an active member. She attended St. Paul’s Anglican Church and later a member of the Cathedral Church of All Saints.
Frances was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2003 and by her brothers, Edmund, Ian and Ralph. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Wood and her husband Randy of British Columbia and her son Robert and his wife Marsha (Hamm) of Halifax. She is also survived by her sister Eileen MacDonald.
Frances was affectionately known as “Gwinny” by her grandchildren, Miranda, Gavin, Lisa, Terri and James. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Isaac, Frances, Colin and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Halifax .on Tuesday, September 3, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Martello Street, Halifax, on Wednesday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m.
