Faye Elaine Parker

on the 8th January 2023, age 79, at the QE II Infirmary in Halifax.

After 2 weeks of declining health Faye succumbed to a combination of Covid and pneumonia.

Faye was the daughter of the late Robert and Hilda (Wile) Neily, of Springfield, NS.

She is survived by her husband John; sister Debbie (Roger) Beaupre, Dartmouth; sister Dianne (Herb) Slauenwhite, Wentzell Lake; brother Brian (Wanda) Neily, Porters Lake and brother-in- law Eric (Helen) Parker and numerous nephews and nieces as well as many grand nieces and grand nephews. She took great delight and interest in them all as well as her two aunts who turned 100 in 2022.

Faye was born in Windsor, NS, but spent her childhood in Lake Pleasant and Springfield, NS She attended school in Springfield and New Germany. After graduating from high school and then the Bridgewater Commercial School she moved to Halifax to work at school television and the CBC. Her restless spirit soon took her to San Mateo, CA where she worked at Wells Fargo. In two years she returned to Halifax and married John. After a couple of years in Ottawa, they moved back to Halifax where she was employed by the T. Eaton Co., in Dartmouth. After a few years she enrolled at Mount Saint Vincent and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history. She also won a history department prize. She then worked as an Executive Assistant to the Dean of Engineering at TUNS, now the Faculty of Engineering, Dalhousie University. After 20 years Faye retired to her flowers and gardens and looked forward to more travel.

She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, reading, watching figure skating, playing cards with family and friends, but most of all large family events and her work. She was a warm, loving gentle person but could stand her ground. She was a loyal and considerate wife and friend. She extended her reach as a Big Sister for several years. Faye had a wonderful, warm smile, and a very dry sense of humour. Her work ethic was strong and grounded in her belief of doing an excellent job. Her quiet, resolute determination spoke volumes about her character.

A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday June 3 at 10am in J A Snow Funeral home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. The burial will take place at approximately 1pm at Berwick Cemetery, Berwick NS. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity of your choosing.
