

KILLEEN (Trewin), Evelyn Matilda – 94 Halifax, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2015 at Oceanview Continuing Care Nursing Home. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Edward John and Flora (Gormley) Trewin, she was the sole survivor of her immediate family.
After working for C.N.R. as a secretary, Evelyn managed the books for the family business, Killeen’s Express, while raising her five children. She enjoyed Curling at the Mayflower Curling Club and playing Bridge with her two Bridge Clubs. She absolutely loved her time at their cottage spending weekends and summers on the Amherst Shore with family and many friends. Evelyn was a very dedicated and loving mother and grandmother who would share without hesitation her time and encouragement. Evelyn will be remembered with warmth for her unrelenting love and devotion to the special needs of her daughter, Carol.
Evelyn’s hands were never idle. In her spare time she pursued her passion for knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and needlepoint. Her family treasures the many heirlooms she created over the years.
Evelyn will be sadly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Dr. Ronald (Lynda) Killeen; daughters, Janice (David) DeCoste, Carol, Mary Lynn (Robert) Kersey; grandchildren, Matthew, Paula, Ashley, Jonathan, Danielle, Jeffrey, Lauren, Hannah, Liam and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; daughter, Paula (Bob) Wilson; brothers, Bert and Ken.
Special thanks to the staff at Oceanview Continuing Care Nursing Home –Bayside. A private family service will be held at a later date, there will be no visitation.
