Hill, Eric “Ward” - 74, Halifax. It is with deep sadness we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His journey here ended on March 21, 2011, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG site, QEII, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Halifax, he was the only son of the late Wilfred and Molly (Lilly) Hill. He attended schools in his neighbourhood of Clifton and Allen Street. Leaving Queen Elizabeth High School to join his father in business at Willow Grocery at Willow and Clifton St. The business served the local area, as well as being a Ship Chandler to many government and fishing vessels. After giving up the business he was employed by The Department of Natural Resources for 20 years where he found great camaraderie with his fellow employees of the Surveys Division. He loved his faith community and sang in St. Johns Anglican Church Choir for a number of years. In recent years, he and his wife found spiritual community with the Pastors and people of the Lutheran Church of our Saviour, Dartmouth. He loved the time he spent at the cottage in West Dover with family and friends including the people of St. James Anglican Church and the surrounding parishes. He is survived by this wife Connie (Corney); beloved children, Perry W. (Mary), and Karolyn, Halifax. Precious granddaughters, Melanie and Jennifer; sister-in-law Patricia Yarn, niece Kelly (Sean) Tanner; Uncle Kent Hill, Newfoundland; Aunt Annie Gaultos, Halifax; many cousins; devoted Godmother May Keeping, Halifax; and dear friends Albert and Dot Sumarah. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 7A Palliative Care, VG Site, QEII, your care was so very much appreciated. Memorial service and reception, Saturday March 26, 11:00 am, 2011, at J.A. Snow Funeral Home Chapel, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Reverend Richard Beiber and Reverend Steve Croft officiating.
