Dorothy Joan (MacDonald) Doak passed away May 25, 2023. Born and educated in Antigonish, she was the adopted daughter of Hugh A. and Winnifred MacDonald. She retired in 1992 as an executive Secretary for the Province of Nova Scotia. She had previously held the position of Administrative Secretary for OISE Toronto. She was married over 60 years to Ervin John Doak, professor (retired) at Saint Mary’s University. She studied music (voice) at Maritime Conservatory and had been active at one time as cantor and leader of song at Canadian Martyrs Church. She had also been a member of the senior choir at St. Agnes. She loved to vacation in Florida. She is survived by her husband, her brother John Hugh, her sister Rosemary and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Blair, sister Janice, her parents and brothers James and Roy. Visitation at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Tues.,May 30, 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held Wed. May 31, 10 a.m. at St Agnes with burial 12:30 pm June 1 At St. Ninian’s Cemetery, Antigonish.
