CORKUM, Dianna “Faye” passed away on November 21, 2024 in Halifax at the age of 79 after a long illness. Faye was born on October 10, 1945 in Oxford, Nova Scotia to Garnet and Freda Miller. She was predeceased by husband George, and she is survived by sons Andrew (Shannon), Christopher and Erick, and granddaughter Edith, as well as a large extended family.
Faye grew up as a “coal miner’s daughter” in Springhill, Nova Scotia, as one of 13 children. She later moved to Halifax, where she met her husband, George, and together they raised their family.
Alongside her husband George, they worked as partners and operated the family business while raising three boys in their home on Walnut Street in Halifax. She was also a passionate entrepreneur. She expanded the business and ran a successful gallery for several years. Faye embraced the challenges she faced in her various business ventures and believed that treating people with kindness and respect was key to achieving success. Her son Erick joined the family business early on, working closely with her to ensure its success and eventually taking over its operations.
Faye was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, and her radiant smile could light up any room. Her greatest gifts included her generosity of spirit and her remarkable ability to connect with people. She made friends wherever she went, forming many lifelong relationships. Faye loved hosting family and friends at her cottage in Indian Harbour, which she affectionately referred to as "down the country." She loved spending time there in the summers watching the animals, flowers, and sunshine over the bay.
She moved to The Berkeley Gladstone in 2022 and she was grateful to have made so many dear friends. She embraced the vibrant community, finding joy in activities such as bingo, live music, dances, and crafts.
Faye was a kind, wise, generous, and determined spirit. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. She will be dearly remembered and missed by many.
A celebration of Faye’s life will take place on November 30, 2024 at 3:00 pm at J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
