of Halifax N.S., passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023, at age 85, from complications of dementia and cancer. Born in West Wickham, Kent, England, he was the son of the late John and Phyllis Burnett. He studied Mechanical Engineering and was employed with Babcock and Wilcox in England. He met his wife, Diana, and they moved to Canada where David was employed with Babcock and Wilcox Canada, eventually becoming their chief engineer. They lived in Ontario for 10 years, had two children, Glen and Gail, and then moved to Nova Scotia in 1977. David and his partners started MBB Mechanical Services in the same year. In 1996, David started Trecan Combustion Limited, where he worked for many years, finally retiring in 2020. David was an avid golfer and a member of the Ashburn Golf Club for many years. David and Diana enjoyed playing cards with friends, travelling, and made numerous trips home to England and Australia. David is survived by his wife, Diana; son, Glen (Tanya); daughter, Gail (Kevin); and grandchildren, Jared, Branden, Megan and Nathan; sister, Diana Long, as well as nieces and nephews. David’s family would like to thank the staff of Parkland Clayton Park for the wonderful care that they provided for David over the last three years.
