Cynthia (Cindy), the source of great joy, strength and love for her family and friends, died suddenly at home in Bedford on December 15, 2017. She is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years Gregory, her cherished children Sophia, Alexander and Olivia, her loving mother Arlene Lane, her brothers Johnny (Donna) Lane and Richard (Glenda) Lane, her mother-in-law Nohad Arab, her brothers and sisters in-law Joffrette and Tony Francis, Caroline and Brendan Carr, Jenine and Greg O’Malley, Maya and David Fallows, and Joseph Arab, and her nieces and nephews Martine, Khalil, and Gizelle Francis, Benjamin, Rebecca, Rachel and Samuel Carr, Keelan, Brianna, Jessica and Zachary O’Malley, and Nicholas, Thomas and Daniel Fallows, and many aunts and uncles. She is predeceased by her father John Lane.
Cindy was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She attended Prince Andrew High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from Dalhousie University. Cindy and Gregory made their family home in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Cindy was a beacon of light and of life, the kind of person whom others loved to be around. She had a special way of helping people feel warm, welcomed and at ease, and could often be found making new friends of strangers. Her passion for interior design, evident in her beautifully decorated family home and summer home in Hubbards brought her great joy and happiness. She spent many hours when her children were young teaching them to scrapbook and do other crafts. She loved simply spending time at home, in Hubbards and her home in Siesta Key, Florida, with her beloved family, friends and her loyal canine companions, Henry and Molly.
Cindy’s early career experience at the Nova Scotia Hospital Drug Dependency unit helped to cultivate her selflessness, compassion and kindness. These qualities, which she embodied and upheld in her everyday life as a devoted mother, wife and sister to all, spoke to Cindy’s tremendous strength of character. This strength made her a source of joy, fortitude and hope for countless individuals whose lives she touched, most of all, her family, who she fearlessly helped steer through many challenging times. Although her body has passed on, her wisdom, spirit and grace survive in the hearts and minds of those she cherished most.
As per her wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation is Wednesday, December 20th, 12:00-4:00 PM at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
