 We received this sad news while in transit back to Canada, so while we are late in sharing, we nevertheless  want to extend our deepest condolences to Danny and the entire Graham family For this unimaginable loss.. Billy’s presence lit up the universe while  with us physically  and We have no doubt he is doing the same in heaven.

Judi first met Bill when they both worked for Merck Frosst , and of course a lifelong friendship ensued.  I met Bill when Judi and I first travelled to Nova Scotia together in the early 2000’s, and the connection was immediate and deep.  The highlight of subsequent trips was always the visit with Bill, Leah and the girls.   Bill was kind, generous and caring; he was smart and funny, full of music and laughter.  

We awaken these mornings to a world that is poorer and darker without Bill Graham in it.

Shock doesn't describe how I felt upon hearing of Billy's passing.   I was a friend of his sister Eileen growing up . I, and so many others spent copious amounts of time in the Graham den waiting to walk to school with our friends, or waiting to go to a dance.  Mamma Graham welcomed every one of her children's friends with such gracious hospitality.  Billy would always greet me with  a big, "How are you doing Susan?".    When Billy spoke, he was engaged and sincere.  The memory that will remain seared in my mind is of a couple of years ago, when Billy showed up at my workplace here in Alberta.  He had a delay in travel plans returning to Fort MacMurray, and was staying with his old friend Geoff MacKay.  He came up to me at work while Geoff stayed out of sight, and said a big "Hello Susan!"  I hadn't seen him in almost forty years and didn't recognize him. He played me for several minutes.  I broke down completely when he said who he was. It was like seeing a long, lost relative.  How humbled I was that he would take the time in bad weather to pop in and say hello.  I realized then that the sweetest Graham boy, (no offence meant to the rest) had grown into the sweetest, handsome man.  The deep, cutting pain that I and so many feel upon hearing of his passing, is testament to his meaningful presence, here on earth.  Heaven will be a better place with Bill there.  Eileen, I wish I was closer to comfort you.  To the Graham siblings, you are a special family who have learned to hold each other up while enduring such loss.  To dearest Marjorie,  such condolence I send to you, on the  loss of one of your children. Condolences to Leah and Bill's daughter. Peace and prayers to all.  XO!

I was saddened to hear of Billy's passing. My sincere condolences to his wife Leah and  his daughters Michele and Leah as well as the Graham family. I was Billy's third grade teacher at St. Joseph School in Sydney.Even after all these years I can close my eyes and and see  Billy's  smiling happy face as he came into the classroom each morning. There was a kindness, a goodness and a gentleness about him that stood out. He was bright and funny and well liked by all the other children.  Some students leave a mark and Billy certainly did! My sincere condolences to Leah and Billy's family and friends. I am so sorry to hear of Billy's passing. He definitely was 'one of the good guys'. It has been many many years since our paths have crossed. We spent many great times together, with the gang of friends, in Sydney and in Halifax. Heaven is a better place today; earth, not so much. My favorite memory is the time at one of my house parties on Kyte's Hill Drive that Billy stayed pretty late. I think he fell asleep on the couch. My Mum came down in the wee hours, saw Billy, and asked "what he was doing there". Earlier I had introduced him as Billy Graham, with much emphasis. Billy jumped up and said "I'M Billy Graham!". My Mum replied, "I don't care if you're Billy Graham the Evangelist. It's too late and you're going home!" Lots of fond and funny memories with Billy and his crew of 'gangsters'!! So sorry and shocked to hear of Bill's passing.
Many good times on the ice, at the card table and listening to music with Bill. Pat said that he was probably late because he always had to have a word with everyone. Many people would say "Hi". Bill would stop, sit down and have a chat. During those chats you knew you were the focus of his attention. As heartwarming as those chats were, we are heartbroken at his sudden passing.

I didn't know Billy well... although I did have the opportunity to play in a Merck Frosst company hockey tourney on the championship winning maritime team, featuring all great guys, including 'the reverand' who centered our 'Ministry of Doom' line together with Dale Meisner & Kirk Avis, who were instrumental in our victory. Not sure what was more fun - either winning the tourney, or having a great time the night before at a local pub in Mtl, where Billy had one of the best gags I'd ever seen - he put in a set of awful false teeth and was creeping the heck out  of the locals together with Jerome Brocklehurst & Chris Baker - what a blast!

I can’t imagine the loss for all family and friends. All the words about Billy are so true and well written. We were friends at 5 years of age and I just remember him as “ a nice guy”.  Always such a pleasure to be in is company. Billy made everyone feel they were so special and was a magnificent listener .. What a talent he had! 

I have known Bill for over fifty years. Even though we didn’t see each other for years at a time each time I saw him at hockey or an event it was like  we were best friends forever. Very shocked at the news. Great guy. Only wish I had been able to spend more time shooting the breeze with Him

Despite the ill-fitting gear, we lit it up and of course toasted the victory afterwards in true Aces fashion. Bill exemplified the esteemed Graham tradition wherever he went.

Billy's superpower was tardiness, yet he was worth the wait. 
Articulate, Adroit, an excellent Sportsman, great tarabish player...Billy was part of my life for decades and I was better for it. 
His confident manner as we(along with Colin and Steve) set out to traverse the Rocky Mountains on a weekend trip to Jasper from Calgary in his 1970 Orange Datsun B210 was demonstrable of his character and verve for life...he had paid $100.00 for the car...a memorable fun trip that had us return to cowtown safe and sound.
Saddened by this loss is an understatement.
My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Leah and family and all those who loved him most.


I am so sad to hear about Billy. It breaks my heart. My clearest memory of him was sitting in the hallway outside his and Danny's bedroom in my prom dress while they were inside arguing over who got which suit to wear to prom.  Keep in mind that the prom was going on all the while .... yes, we were all late getting there! No surprise. Oh and Billy got the blue suit (Danny got the brown one.) He was a wonderful guy. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
