Born in New Glasgow on October 9, 1936 passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2022 in the Halifax Infirmary – QEII. Cecil was the son of the late Sara J. Paris and Noble Paris. Predeceased by his mother Sarah J. Paris, father Noble Paris and older brother Keith Paris. Dad was survived by his wife Vivian of 60 years,sister Alice (Alabama), son Cecil Jr., daughter Michele and four grandchildren Brandy, Bryce, Brogan, Bronson and great grandson Elias, all of Halifax.
In his younger years Dad moved to Truro with his parents and later relocated to Halifax where he joined the Navy in 1957 and would later meet and marry his beautiful wife Vivian at Trinity Anglican Church in 1962. He served on the Bonaventure and the Chaleur a mine sweeping ship. In the mid 60s, Cecil was stationed in St. Hubert Que with his family, Vivian and Cecil Jr. and later returned to Halifax in 1970. He later changed branches from the Navy to the Air Force. In his career in the Air Force, he was a heavy equipment operator and worked in transportation. He retired from the Air Force in 1981, then continued in his career working for the Department of National Defence until retiring in 1994. Serving a total of 37 years with the Federal Government. Dad had a gift of gab; he could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. He was a member of the Cornwallis Street Baptist Church (later renamed New Horizons). Dad was anchored in the Lord and loved to talk about Jesus to anyone who would listen. Dad was a NASCAR and Formula One racing enthusiast and loved to watch. He kept up on worldly news and enjoyed chatting about current events. Dad would often be the primary driver for his grandchildren, taking them back-and-forth to school and visiting their favourite weekly restaurant. In Dad’s later years Cecil Jr. would accompany him to his doctor’s appointments and cherished the time spent with his dad.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers a donate can be made to the New Horizons Baptist Church.
