Mom was born on August 14, 1926 in Belleoram, NL, to the late Lemuel and Julia (Bishop) Gould. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a great friend to many. Mom came to Halifax at the age of 17, where she met the love of her life, Harry Goulden. Four years later they married and had three children, Faye (Jerry) Holzer, Dennis (Carmel) Goulden and Karen Tingley (Jason Josey), eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In Mom’s own memory we will cherish the tenderness of her loving spirit, her infectious smile, her generous heart, her love of God and her family that meant the world to her. She was very active in her church, St. Mark’s Anglican. She was a member of the ACW Chancel Guild, Eucharist Minister, Sides Person, Greeter, Volunteer of St. Mark’s Food Bank for a great number of years and helped in many other ways. She also helped Rev. John Morrell with the Anglican Services at North Wood. Mom was nominated Volunteer of the Month for helping her community on June 12, 2017 at 91 years of age, from CTV morning show. Mom also loved knitting, reading and travelling, especially to Vancouver and the many trips she took around the world with her girls.
She will be sadly missed by her children, her family and the many friends she has made throughout her life. She is also survived by her brother, Newman Gould (Brenda), sister, Sue Blommaert, sister in law Sadie Gould, many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Harry of 54 years, her brothers, Lemuel, Leventus and Russell and grandson, Luke Tingley. They are together again.
The funeral will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 5522 Russell St, Halifax; Wednesday, Dec 4, 2024 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow. Burial will be at a later date in the spring.
