Carol Fiander Owens, 82 passed away at home on January 18th. Carol was born December 2nd, 1941 to Anne and Stan Flemming, the Lighthouse Keepers at Chebucto Head. She married Leonard Fiander in 1961 and had four children; Anne Marie (Peter) Adiletta, Paul Fiander, Victoria (Patrick) Devenish and Christopher. She worked 30+ years for the Special Investigations Unit of the CFB Halifax Military Police and was proud of that contribution to the community. She was predeceased by son Christopher, husband Leonard, both her parents, second husband Fred Owens and brother David. She is survived by her three remaining children, siblings Norman, Patricia and Sara as well as grandchildren Sarah & Emily Fiander and Christopher & Lauren Adiletta, and finally, long time companion Maurice. A Memorial service will be held on Friday May 3 at 1:30pm in St. Michael's Church, 6 St Michaels Ave, Halifax. A reception will follow at 3:30pm in KHARA (old Ketch Harbour Fire Hall). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
