Davidson, Bruce Edward - 69, of Halifax. It is with profound sadness that we announce that Bruce passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday December 4th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his battle, Bruce maintained his wonderful sense of humor and kind spirit.
Born in Halifax in 1943, Bruce was the son of the late James Davidson and Katheline (Lantz) Davidson. He is predeceased by his son Stephen Davidson whom he loved very much. Bruce is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years Joan Davidson, brother Jim Davidson (Sandy), step-daughter Pamela Davidson, daughter Natalie Davidson (Tim), son Bradley Davidson (Tamara), grandsons Andrew and Nicholas Frith, and granddaughter Jane Davidson.
Bruce earned his law degree from Dalhousie University in 1967. He began his career at the Office of the Attorney General of Nova Scotia and worked in this capacity until his early retirement in 1997. Bruce was passionate about his field, and after his retirement, he opened a private practice which he enjoyed immensely. Bruce was appointed as Queen's Council in 1983, a designation which he held at the time of his death.
Bruce spent much of his free time with his family who loved him and will miss him dearly. Bruce especially enjoyed summer holidays with his family in Oakland, Mahone Bay, and Central Caribou, Pictou County. Bruce was very musical and as a young army cadet, he learned to be a drummer. Bruce played in school, rock, and country bands during university and as a young adult.
The family offers a sincere thank you to friends and colleagues who offered Bruce support throughout his illness. Bruce was touched by your kindness and generosity. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of the VG site, QEII, and the VON for their sensitive care and support.
