Born in Sable River, he was the son of the late Purney and Margaret Dexter. Brian left Sable as a young man to begin a career with the MT& T where he worked until his retirement in 1995 as Foreman of the Bishop Co.
Brian was a gentle soul with a ready smile. He was an avid fisherman and an innovative handyman ready to lend a hand anytime … unless he was in a boat on the water with his best fishing buddy Clem.
Predeceased by his wife, Lorraine, Brian leaves behind their sons, Stephen and Andrew (Lisa), partner Wendy Johnson, sister Mary Dawn (Grant), niece Natasha (Chris), nephew Justin (Michelle), great niece and nephews and several cousins. Also mourning from his blended family are Craig (Natasha), Alison (Tom), Daniel, Claire, and Samuel, who are already missing being teased by a very special “Grampie Brian”.
As Brian wished there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will be at the First Sable River United Baptist Church cemetery at a later date. Officiated by Rev. Wheaton.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Staff of 8.1 of the QEII Infirmary for their excellent compassionate care allowing Brian to retain his dignity during his final days.
Donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of your choice.
