It is with sorrow that the family of Phyllis Elaine Foley, who was known to all as “Bobbie,” announces her peaceful passing on October 25th, 2013, at the age of 70. Bobbie was born in Halifax on October 26, 1942. She grew up in the Hydrostone area, in a close knit community of family and neighbours. She received her teaching degree from Mount St. Vincent University, but continued her studies throughout her life, later completing her M.Ed. at Niagara University in NY. Her teaching career spanned 34 years, beginning in Nova Scotia for two years, after which she spent the rest of her career in Toronto as an elementary school teacher, and later, librarian, with the Separate School Board. When Bobbie retired from teaching in 1997, she returned to Halifax to assist with the care of her mother. She was an avid reader, sports enthusiast and world traveler. Bobbie enjoyed exploring life’s experiences and sharing them with good friends and family. While she remained single throughout her life, Bobbie was a mentor and role model to the younger members of her family: she was a deeply charitable soul who was always ready to provide counsel or assistance. She will be sorely missed. She was predeceased by her parents Murray and Eva (Guest) Foley. Bobbie is survived by her sister Catherine (Robert) Doucette, nieces and nephews Philip (Sheila) Doucette, Maureen (Eric) Millsom, Michael (Angela) Doucette, Patricia (John) Doucette, great nieces and nephews Caitlin (Troy) Rowe, Erin Rowe, Sebastian Saez, and cousins Robin Crandall and Joyce Guest. The memorial mass will be held 11 am Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish Church, 6032 Normandy Drive, Halifax. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Bobbie’s memory. Online condolences may be sent to: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneralhome.com
