Dear, Natalie, Heather, Valerie and Susan. Heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your father, Wayne, not-so-long-ago, and now, for the passing of your mother, Ann. I have been out of the country for a few weeks and upon returning home this past Sunday, I learned the sad news 
from my neighbour, Janet O'Brien, who also informed me that she attended a tea party in memory of your mother. I'm so sorry I was unable to attend the function to see you and pass along my regrets, personally. I last saw your parents at the Bike and Bean Cafe in Tantallon, some time ago. I often met them at the Bike and Bean when they were at their cottage at St. Margaret's Bay and it was always a joy to spend some time with them. They were such a delightful couple. I'm sure that wonderful memories of them, and the support of family members and their many devoted friends, will sustain you in the months ahead and help you fine renewal.. Please know that you are in my thoughts.

To the Macleans (our cousins "out east"), like you, I cannot remember a time before your mom.  In 50+ years she never missed a birthday of mine and was a regular thought to call every Christmas morning.  We're so saddened to think of her (and Wayne) not being with us anymore. I honestly find it a bit hard to comprehend still and the reality creeps on me as I'm sure it is doing constantly for you right now.

Ann was warm, welcoming and a valued fixture in the lives of everyone in our family.  For family history or Nova Scotia memories and lore, she was our "google" and despite being geographically remote, a form of anchor to our roots on that side of the family and just a call away.

Anne was with us when we sprinkled our mom's ashes in Green Bay, a day with her I'll never forget, but just one of many with her,.. all positive. 

All our sympathies and condolences to you all,... she most definitely will be missed by anyone that got to know her.

The Miles family is so lucky we grew up beside Ann & Wayne and (Sue, Nat, Val & Heather)—the best neighbours ever that turned into family friends for life. Like a second family to us living right next door.  
We can’t imagine a world without caring, down to earth, wonderful Ann (and Wayne). Forever close by in our hearts. 

We treasure many memories.  Ann’s lifelong passion for music through her violin and piano to her love of cats (and how strays always knew to find their way to her back deck!) to her sense of fun (like every year banging pots and pans at her front door with great vigour to celebrate the New Year!) 
But most of all we remember Ann’s sweet life with Wayne at home and at their beloved cottage with their pride and joy- their girls & grandchildren/families.

Our thoughts are with Heather, Val, Nat, Sue and all the family.

My sincere condolences on Ann’s passing … she was a lovely person, sincere and gentle, and always ready to laugh. As members of the Caledonian Orchestra of Nova Scotia, we shared a room while participating in the Stratford, Ont. Summer Festival of Music in 2010, and became fast friends. Ann will be missed by all in the orchestra … rest easy, dear friend.

Ann and Wayne were our neighbours and friends for over 50 years. We both had four children that grew up together and had many fun and musical times. Ann introduced Janet to art classes which she has enjoyed ever since. We also had many travels together including a road trip through Scotland. She has been a wonderful friend and we will miss her so much.

So glad you are having a wonderful celebration for Ann. As others have said--she has left a most wonderful legacy in her 4 girls, their husbands, and all the grandchildren. Her pride in you all was well justified!  What I loved most about Ann as well as Wayne, was their great sense of humour. When my husband was housebound with bone cancer, they would arrive bringing lunch, and their conversation and wit would really light up our day.  She will be missed by so very many people. She was a gentle, yet fierce soul. Am glad she is at peace.

This message is emotionally difficult to write; simply because she was such an important part of our lives.  Our friendship with Ann and Wayne was triggered in 1993 through a circuitous path that started in a female fitness group, wound through The Halifax Baroque Ensemble, The Cranston Trio, and The Caledonian Orchestra Of Nova Scotia.  Music was the initial and lasting interest that bound us together.  However, our friendship went far beyond musical activities.  Ann loved to socialize; she was always ready to be with friends, to chat and have fun.  We were so fortunate to be included in her family gatherings.  There are so many great memories of being with Ann and Wayne.  We express our sincere condolences to her loving family.  Ann will always have a special place in our thoughts.

I was saddened to hear of Ann’s passing —I always enjoyed meeting up with her at a Symphony concert or at the Miles home next door on Greenwood Ave to have a little chat and catch-up with news of you all —she was so friendly and I remember her cheery smile and fabulous laugh/giggle —

It must be the tohghest of times when our mothers, fathers leave this world to take on a new journey but love always remains as the ultimate infinite energy. We wish that our amazing friends and neighbours Natalie and Saadettin as well as all the friends and family of Ms. Ann Spencer MacLean find the right comfort in the good times and laughters left behind by Ms.McLean. We wish the family of Ms.McLean go on maintaining her legacy as they always have. 

Living very close by, witnessing how great Natalie is as a person, it is so easy to see that Ms.McLean raised great kids which each and every single of them will keep representing her noble spirit. This alone shows that she was a dear and a very prominent member of her communities which we guess will miss her dearly.
