It is with sadness our family announces the passing of Amy Stewart, age 92, on September 17th, 2018, after a brief illness. Born in Western Shore, NS, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Leon and Lucy Eliza (Sawler) Feindel. Raised in Parrsboro, NS, she worked in an aircraft factory in Amherst, NS during WWII, eventually moving to Halifax and a secretarial position at the Grace Maternity Hospital. While in Halifax, she met her husband, Leigh and they raised their family in Halifax while Leigh worked for the RCMP Marine Division and ‘H’ Division. Amy was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies’ Guild and an Elder. She spent many years serving as Calvin’s Representative Elder to the Halifax-Lunenburg Presbytery and the Synod of the Atlantic Provinces. Amy was active until her death gardening and cooking. She will be remembered for her jams, pickles, relishes, pies and cookies by family and friends. Amy was predeceased by her husband, Leigh, of 59 years in 2004. Amy is survived by daughters, DiAnne (Danny) Campbell, Deborah (Murray) Howie, and Kerri (Kevin) Jack; grandchildren Deborah (Wayne) Beazley, Douglas Low, Michael (Margo) Howie, Jeffrey (Kerry) Howie, Aleksander Jack, Daniel Jack and Keiran Jack; great grandchildren, Hollyann, Mitchell, Sarah, Jack, Rachel and Ryan; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 28th in Calvin Presbyterian Church (3311 Ashburn Ave). Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place on Saturday, September 29th, at 11 am in St. John’s Cemetery, Belfast, PEI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Memorial Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
