It is with deep gratitude for a wonderful life well-lived, that the family of Amy Farnell announces her peaceful passing on April 25, 2020. Amy was a loving, vibrant and talented woman who brought her intelligence, compassion and artistic gifts to her many pursuits and accomplishments in life.
She was an astute, generous and free-spirited woman, strong, determined and capable as she completed her nursing training, raised a family, and for many years worked alongside her husband in life and in business as together they built Farnell Packaging from a small company of two into the successful manufacturing business it is today. In the midst of it all, she wrote poetry, spent happy years painting and sculpting, enjoyed special years at Bethany United Church with Sunday School classes and youth groups, studied counselling at Atlantic School of Theology and explored other areas of interest at Mount Saint Vincent University.
She lit up a room with her smile and energy and was often the life of the party. Right up to the end she would often surprise us with a quick and witty retort and a twinkle in her bright blue eyes. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal, caring friend to so many during her 92 years. She achieved so much and will be remembered as a very successful leader, but most of all as a deeply caring and compassionate woman.
She sacrificed much for the benefit of others around her and gave freely to so many during her lifetime. She loved people, especially little children, and, at heart, was an artistic soul with a spiritual orientation towards life and its mysteries.
The family wishes to thank the beautiful team of caring companions and caregivers who helped us keep mom living in her own home over the past several years. We also are tremendously grateful for the wonderful staff at Bedford Central Medical Clinic where mom was so well taken care of by Dr. Kremed and her team.
Amy was predeceased by her father, Joel Christianson and her mother, Doris Barkhouse, and her siblings, Ellen, Catherine, Joel, Eddie, Robert, Norman and an infant brother, as well as her husband, Donald. She is survived by her brother Hilding (Myrna) Christianson; daughters, Debby (Tom Rudolph), Judy; grandchildren Julie (Greg Monette) and Joel (Ainslie) Rudolph; and four sweet great grandchildren, Jack and Olivia, Ben and Brianna, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, Halifax, NS. Interment and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date after COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
