She spent a number of years at home raising her family before re-entering the workforce in retail. She especially enjoyed long hours in both her flower and vegetable gardens, time at her easel painting, time spent by the ocean, a really good game of bridge and particularly loved her every minute with her Shelties, both at home and in the obedience ring. Her stoic determination served her well in many aspects of her life, especially being able to stay in her own home in her senior years.
Alta is survived by daughters Nan, Bev, and Kim; grandchildren Evan, Colin, Lexi, and Matt; and four great-grandchildren Logan, Emmett, Theo and Sloane; and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Hal; parents Clinton and Beulah (Ellis) Drake; siblings Crystal and Hazel.
An informal gathering to celebrate Alta, will be held Saturday May 7th at 2pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
Donations in Alta’s memory may be made to the SPCA or other shelter/rescue organization; Hope for Wildlife; or a charity of choice. We would especially like to thank Linda Dowell for the time she spent with Alta over the past nine months providing support and infinite hours of deep conversation and companionship.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.JASnowFuneralHome.com for the ROGERS family.
