Bud had a 50 year career with Guildford’s Ltd. as Vice President; over-seeing the contracting divisions in the Atlantic Provinces.
He was active in various professional organizations that included, Trustee, Benefit and Pension Plans Heat & Frost, as President Thermal Association of Canada(TIAC), Director of the Maritimes from 1971 – 2003, Chairman, Nova Scotia Design and Construction Institute(DCI), Director of the NSCLRA, formerly Nova Scotia Management Bureau and President of the Nova Scotia Construction Curling Association
Bud also spent a term as the President of Ashburn Golf Club and enjoyed time, serving on the Board and many committees.
He spent many years as a member of the Mayflower Curling Club, and he was an active member of Bethany United Church where he sat on the Board and numerous committees.
Bud was an avid hunter and angler and had many great trips with friends and family. He truly enjoyed the wilderness and spending as much time as he could enjoying the quiet and peaceful times of the outdoors. Bud loved watching sports and enjoyed nothing more than going to the rink to socialize and watch his grandsons play hockey.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, and will never be forgotten for his guidance, mentorship and kindness to everyone that he touched.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janice (nee Grimm); sons, Michael, and Robert (Jennifer); sister, Frankie Peveril (Ken); grandchildren, Michael, Haileigh, Madison, Matthew and Jake; great grandchildren, Carter and Vanessa; as well nephews Kevin, Keith and Jeff.
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 24, 2021 at 10:00am in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Due to Covid restrictions space will be limited, please call 902-455-0531 to pre-register your attendance at the service. For those unable to attend there will be a link available on the funeral home website to watch via livestream. A celebration of life and reception will be held at a future date.
The family would like to thank Bud’s good friend Vince and Minister Kevin Little for being with him right to the end. The staff on the 4th floor of the VG, with special thanks to Danielle and Dr. Forward. The Nurses and Doctors at the Halifax Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society or the Nova Scotia Lung Association and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
