Born in Halifax he was the son of Hazel (Grosse) and Henry Grant.
Alfred worked as a CNN porter, for Vogue Theatre, as a taxi driver and retired from the city of Halifax. Alfred was an avid BINGO player with the nickname Papa BINGO and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was well known in his community due to his frequent walks and visits to local business and community spaces.
Alfred is survived by his daughter Margaret, sons Terry (Tracey) Halifax, Roger (Winnipeg) and Glen (Toronto), sister Mona (Boston) brothers Irvine and Barrington (Dartmouth). He is also survived by 4 granddaughters and 14 great-grand children. Predeceased by wife Evelyn (Crawley), son Gordon and brothers Willie and Ricky.
The family would like to give special thanks to the VON, 8.2 and 8.4 of the Halifax Infirmary, Northwood , Arborstone, and the Heart Function Clinic Halifax Infirmary, QEII. We also want to especially thank Kate, Alfred’s heart nurse, for all her special care and attention to him for 14 years.
Visitation will be held Monday December 30th 7 pm-9pm. In Cruikshanks Funeral Home 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Where a Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday December 31st 2013. Rev Rhonda Britton officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
