Born in Judique South Inverness Co., he was the youngest son of the late John A. and Flora Ann (MacDonnell) MacMillan.
Alex lived a long and fulfilling life based on faith, service and healthy living. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentleness, humility, and perfectly groomed evergreen trees.
He had a great concern for the poor and served as the founding Chair of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rockingham. Also at O.L.P.H. he served ten years as Finance Chair and for many years as Chair of the Hospitality Committee. He also served on this committee at Saint Benedict Parish as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus.
At home he was the most faithful of caregivers to his wife Anne and a loving father to daughters Pamela (Chris Flemming) and Deborah (Rob Coombs). Grandchildren Hannah and Michael Coombs and later Rowan Flemming spent many loving hours in the great big rocking chair with “Ba” and later in Ba’s taxi.
In the business world Alex was a Certified Management Accountant with Nova Scotia Light and Power which later became N.S. Power Corporation. He retired Nov.1 1991 after thirty-five years of faithful service.
During these years Alex also served on Provincial and National Committees of the Certified Management Accountant Society.
Alex was predeceased by brother Angus (Hughana) and sister Kay (John) O’Leary.
Alex will be lovingly missed by his immediate family, brother Ronald (Evelyn, deceased) of New Market, Ontario, many loving nieces and nephews of the MacMillan and Mellor families, and dear friends.
