Alexander Patrick Cooke

It is with great sadness that the family of Alexander Patrick Cooke announce his passing on July 3, 2022. He was 26 years old. Alexander’s life ended far too soon. He was deeply loved by all his family and will be sadly missed every day until we meet again.

Alexander was born September 19, 1995 in Halifax, NS and was the loving son of Darrell and Leslie (Stanwick) Cooke. Alexander was a tenderhearted son, a proud and loyal big brother, and a cherished grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

There truly are not enough words to describe the person Alex was. Anyone fortunate enough to have known Alexander knew he had a huge heart and a quick wit. He never missed an opportunity for a big hug and a sincere “I love you”. Alexander’s unique sense of humor, combined with his infectious laugh, attracted smiles and laughter everywhere he went. He leaves his family and friends behind with countless cherished memories. Anyone who was lucky enough to have known him would say there was no one else like him. A kind, gentle and caring soul, Alex touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He will be remembered for these, along with many other unique and genuine traits that made him the very special person he was.

As a young boy, Alexander enjoyed spending time outside on his playset and wearing his “fast boots.” He never missed a chance to tag along with his Dad to job sites or snuggle up with his Mom. Alex spent many hours on the ice as a goalie with TASA Minor Hockey and he also enjoyed many years of playing lacrosse. As most do, Alexander spent his teenage years with his friends, but he still took the time to watch his brothers play hockey and spend time with his cherished family.

Alexander is survived by his parents Darrell and Leslie Cooke; his brothers Andrew and Patrick, both at home. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Joe and Helen Stanwick, Sydney, NS.; and his paternal grandmother, Donna Cooke, Halifax, NS. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved fur siblings. Alexander was predeceased by his very special paternal grandfather, Ken Cooke. There are no words to express how deeply Alexander will be missed by all who loved him.

A Reception Gathering to celebrate Alex’s life will be held Tuesday, July 12th from 2 – 4pm JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donation made be made in Alex's memory to a charity of choice.
