Sandra Hicks was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, great Grammy, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She left this world peacefully at the age of 84 on December 12, 2023, surrounded by family that will continue to honor her by celebrating her life and accomplishments.
Born to Julius and Betty Leshowitz in Jersey City, New Jersey, on January 26, 1939. Sandy was predeceased by her parents and sister, Florry. She is survived by her husband John, her three children (Ted, Cindy, and Thomas), step-daughters (Sara Beth and Shannon), 9 grandchildren (Danielle, Teddy, Jennifer, Jackie, Jessica, Angela, Jacob, Tony, and Jayden), 8 great grandchildren, nephew (Ron), and niece (Dawn). Sandy also is survived by her closest friends that she considered family.
Sandy and John loved traveling the world to visit friends and family. They took every opportunity to spend time with those they loved. Sandy took tremendous pride and enjoyment as she was intimately involved in the daily lives of her family and friends. For most, this would be a full time and exhausting endeavor; for Sandy, it was everything. Sandy was an avid tennis and pickleball player. She enjoyed playing mahjong with her friends.
As Sandy reflected on her life, she shared, “There is no ‘thing’ that I value. I value my family-my children (and their ‘spouses’), grandchildren, great grandchildren, my husband, my sister and her family, everyone’s health and my wonderful life.”
A funeral service for Sandra will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ
Friends should begin to arrive beginning at 10:15AM. The service will start promptly at 11AM
Following the funeral service will be an interment at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07601.
