Born in Brooklyn, Renée was a long-time resident of Teaneck. For the last 20 years, she was a Senior Social Worker at The John Thuerer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, helping cancer patients and their families navigate the challenges that come with their diagnoses. Prior to HUMC, Renée worked as a social worker at Eli Whitney High School, the Community Agency in Williamsburg, Jacobi Hospital and Long Island College Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College and her MSW at Adelphi University. She was an active member of Congregation Beth Sholom in Teaneck.
Renée is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ira Goetz, her children, Jordan and Ilana, her mother, Doris Stein and her sister, Audrey Stein, also of Cliffside Park. She was predeceased by her father, Louis Stein, of blessed memory. She also leaves behind a great number of friends and family for whom Renée was the glue who held everyone together. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, March 21st, with interment at Beth El Cemetery in Westwood.
