It is difficult for those of us who loved him to truly accept that Paul Laifer has left us. Even at 86 years old, this special man was a huge and central presence in the lives of our family. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and absolute devotion to his family. We could always count on him to be there for us. He was our rock, our knight, a force of nature. His love was unconditional.
A significant player in the travel industry, he was best known for his company Paul Laifer Tours which he enthusiastically operated with his son Robert.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, young Paul became an enthusiastic athlete, excelling at baseball and track, a sport that led to advanced competitions at Madison Square Garden.
A WWII Veteran, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Pre-deceased by his brother Jack Laifer and his sister Mildred Chester, he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Elaine Pincus Laifer, his son Steven and wife Lourdes of Cold Spring, NY, his son Robert and wife Paulette of Cresskill, NJ, his daughter Laurie Galembo and husband David of Randolph, NJ, 6 grandchildren Noah, Hayley, Corey, Chelsea, Isabelle, and Cassie, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 31st at 11am, Gutterman-Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park St, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
Interment will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery
