Marie P Varner

She was the beloved daughter of Norman and Bunny Peyton. First and foremost, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her husband, John Varner, her son Daniel John Varner and his wife, Tara of Kinnelon, NJ, her daughter Amy Marie Forney and her husband, Scott, of Westfield, MA, her precious grandchildren Hailey, Jacob and Gavin, her sister, Abby Peyton Howson and her husband Timothy and her nieces and nephew, Deborah, Kenneth, Julie and Kate and their families as well.

Marie grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and Teaneck, New Jersey. She attended The Park School in Baltimore, studied at the University of Buffalo, The Art Students League in New York and Fairleigh Dickenson University where she met her husband, John.

Marie was an avid reader, loved working in needlepoint and later in life became an enthusiastic quilter enjoying the friendships she made at the ‘New Milford Quilters’. She loved to research her family genealogy to understand the fascinating history of her ancestors, and she donated her time to various organizations and fundraisers including Ellis Island, PBS, the American Diabetes Association, the New Milford Library. She served as the president, for several years, of the Friends of New Milford Library.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Marie’s honor to the, PBS Foundation at 2100 Crystal Drive, 3rd Floor Arlington, Virginia 22202 (www.wbgh.org) or to Almost Home Dog Rescue of NJ in Allendale, NJ(www.ahdrnj.com).

Family and friends will gather Sunday, June 26, 2016 between 2PM to 5PM at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life is planned for Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 1PM at Gutterman and Musicant.
