Liz Lehmann passed away on May 15th, 2024. Born in Hammond, Louisiana to Earlyn and Warren Earabino, her family eventually settled in Cresskill, New Jersey where she graduated from Cresskill High School in 1982. There she met her high school sweetheart, Peter Lehmann. Her academic nature led her to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studied Psychology and Spanish and enjoyed singing with the Carolina Choir and the A capella group The Loreleis.
Fate would have it that Liz and Peter became reconnected post graduation and they married in 1987 at Temple Beth El with a reception on The Binghamton Boat. Although the Binghamton was demolished in 2017, Liz and Peter’s marriage remained unsinkable and they spent 36 years together. After a short stint in Washington, D.C., Liz and Peter settled in Bergen County, NJ where they welcomed Sam (1990), Cassie (1993) and Nate (1996).
A job opportunity brought the Lehmann family to Reno, Nevada. In their three years there, Liz enjoyed taking trips with her family to new and exciting places. She built a strong community of friends with whom she enjoyed lounging by the pool at the Caughlin Club on hot summer days, playing Bunco and attending Longaberger Basket parties.
You can take the girl out of New Jersey… actually you can’t. Liz and co. returned to the Garden State moving to Princeton. The very surprise arrival of Alex in 2011 completed the Lehmann family. Liz spent time working as the manager of Lawrence Animal Hospital, where she foster failed nearly every stray to come through the door. The menagerie of animals she adopted brought her so much joy.
Liz loved her family fiercely. Her favorite time of the year was summer when her family gathered in Seaside Park, NJ. In addition to her immediate family, she loved spending summers with her sister, Jen, nephews Matt and Casey, niece Cali and the Seaside Park community who became a family to her. Her favorite role was Bubbe to her two granddaughters. Her door was always open (no knocking necessary) where she would greet you with a huge hug and probably a sandwich.
Adored wife of Peter, mother of Sam (husband Andy Stahl), Cassie, Nate and Alex and grandmother of Hannah and Jordan. Daughter of Earyln and daughter-in-law of Marlys.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, May 19th at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity close to Liz’s heart: Bideawee Animal Shelter or Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
The family will receive friends at the home of Marlys Lehmann on Monday, May 20, 2024 between the hours of 2PM to 5PM and 7PM to 9PM
