Joel Robert Rothstein, 78, passed away on April 20, 2025, in Fair Lawn. He was born on June 17, 1946, in Jersey City and spent the majority of his adult life in Paramus. His parents were James and Diane Rothstein.
Joel was a loving husband to Maureen, his wife of nearly 30 years and with whom he shared a beautiful marriage until her passing. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Jason and James, whom he coached in hockey for many, many seasons. As a parent and a coach, Joel was instrumental in helping start and develop Paramus’s youth roller hockey program. Joel was also a doting grandfather to his six grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life in his later years.
Joel graduated from the University of Oklahoma, a world away from his life as a Jewish boy from Jersey City. In 1983, Joel founded Titan Trading Company, a successful button business that he ran for 27 years in New York City and in New Jersey. His dedication and entrepreneurial spirit helped establish a thriving company that Jason proudly continues to run today.
Joel is survived by his sons Jason and James; his grandchildren Tyler, Avery, Cole, Mae, Owen, Luke; and his sister Nancy (Esterman). His wife, Maureen, predeceased him in 2010.
Joel's family will be sitting shiva at the home of Jason and Jen Rothstein through April 25
