I’m still struggling to put my words together since I’ve heard the news. 

Evan was my first client, and I was a wide-eyed consultant on my first project out of school. Very quickly, our relationship developed to a trusted partnership. Evan was my champion; he instilled confidence and advocated for me to his peers even though he didn’t have to. Thank you for always believing in me.

In the years since, you never hesitated to send a birthday wish or comment on one of my accolades. Knowing that you saw it always brought a smile on my face. I’m saddened to know you’re gone and sending peace to all of your loved ones. May your memories give them peace and comfort.

I just found out about Evan passing away, with great sadness.

I met Evan at the University of Maryland while we were both studying for our MBA.  We used to study together, long and late hours.  Evan saved me from the Operational Research class!  He was the best at it and I was the worse!  But, Evan took me under his wing and he never let me down. When I would thank him for his support, he always told me that while he helped me, he studied more and that allowed him to have an A in the class! "quelle modestie"  as we say in my native language!  It was not just his knowledge of the subject and his intelligence that made the difference, but his kindness, and his willingness to make a difference.  

Our life went apart after the MBA and I regret now, more than ever, not having made more efforts to keep the connection alive.  He will miss him but his memory will remain in my heart.  My many regrets to his family and to all the people who loved him.

I've just learned of Evan's passing...very sad. I worked with Evan and quickly learned that he was typically the smartest person in the room. He learned to leverage this attribute to everyone's advantage and combined it with a sincere desire to help people personally and professionally. This held true even after our shared work experience ended and I was navigating my next career opportunity where he offered advocacy and support to me. Later, I introduced Evan and his expertise to a new colleague knowing that his insight and perspective would offer benefit; and Evan turned this introduction into a de facto mentorship role with no direct benefit other than his genuine desire to help others. To Evan's family, I am sorry for your loss and please know how he positively impacted so many people through his goodness, selflessness, and intelligence. 

I had the pleasure of knowing Evan while we were attending the U of Md MBA program from 1985-1987.  He was so kind, empathetic, funny, and intelligent.  His generous spirit touched my heart.  He would have great parties at his parent's home in Silver Spring, Md.  I will always remember the Halloween party, the costumes, the food, music and dancing. He loved entertaining and being a host. 

I lost touch with Evan and after 33 years reconnected with him through FB.   Heather, you may not remember, but Evan introduced me to you over the phone last year.  It was so good to hear that Evan was happy and had you in his life.  I can not imagine your pain with this unexpected and sudden loss.  There are no words to express my sorrow.  I can only say that Evan 's passing has left a void yet reminds me of how fortunate I was to know him.   May you and your family find comfort during this time. 



Evan Horowitz was a boss, mentor, colleague and a friend. 

When we reflect back on the individuals and experiences that make us who we are, Evan has to be among those people that made my life better for knowing him. 

On the personal front, an example of his selflessness - I remember the first thanksgiving I ever had in Connecticut. I had just moved halfway across the country and had no family or friends in the area with whom to spend that quintessential holiday. Not only did he invite me, but he invited my entire team to his home to enjoy the company of his family and friends.

On the professional front, I have been fortunate. And I can point to many people to thank for my growth – Evan is certainly one among them. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am today, without his offering up of opportunities, and guidance. He knew that – because I told him that on more than one occasion. But he would always brush it aside. That was Evan for you – deflecting from himself and onto others.

Life wasn't always easy for him, and he had his ups and downs, but I never once remember him being unkind.

To the Horowitz family – I sincerely feel for your loss. He was taken to early and while I may not have been in touch with him as much as I should have. His passing has left a gap in my life. I pray and hope that some of the words above, offer a little solace to each of you during this difficult time. 

 

I am very deeply saddened to hear of Evan’s passing.  I worked with Evan for many years at BI.  He was a wonderful boss and mentor for me.  He was so smart, kind and extremely funny.  I will always be thankful for his advice, help and encouragement.  I truly felt that he believed in and was rooting for me to do well.  He’s a wonderful person who was taken far too soon.  My deepest condolences to his fiancé, his boys, and his family and friends. 

I don't see how I can get over how much we used to laugh together.  We were good friends since we were eighteen.  Evan had a gregarious and magnanimous spirit, witty, intelligent and engaging.   Evan was extraordinary in staying in touch and maintaining relationships; something I'm glad I thanked him recently.  He was of comfort to myself and Jennifer when I was in emergency care in the hospital.  He was a rare person I felt I could truly be myself with.   As such, with Evan's passing I lost part of myself.  I am sorry Heather.  I am sorry Brandon and Jason.   I am sorry Mark (I remember our conversations from many years ago).  I know your burden is enormous.   I am sorry for the loss of our friend, Misha - thank you for helping me get through this.  

I had the pleasure of working with Evan. He was a tremendous partner who was amazing in his role but also cared for everybody on a personal level. He made all of us better personally and professionally and always brought a great sense of humor to the room.

Evan, you will be sorely missed my friend! 

Evan you will be so deeply missed. You were a true friend through and through. You deeply cared about me and my family and whatever was going on in the moment. My heart aches learning about your passing. I pray for your boys and your brother, your mother and Heather so very much

I only had the pleasure of working with Evan for a short time at Novartis.  Evan's voice was always one of great clarity, high integrity, and enormous skill...all tangled up with a great sense of humor.  Extending my deepest sympathy to your family and friends for this utterly tragic loss.

Evan sat across from me at Boehringer Ingelheim.  He had his memorabilia around his office including sketches his son did.  He loved to talk about his family.  He would describe the type of antique  furniture his parents collected and his prior jobs in Balt DC area.  He was very kind and if he felt someone was upset he would sit with them and chat.  My condolences.

I had the pleasure of working with Evan at Novartis. He was a tremendous partner that always shared his experience and insights. He made our organization better. He will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Evan and I worked together at Novartis. We were colleagues on the same team and I would speak with him almost daily.  I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing.   While Evan's intelligence was obvious, so was his big heart.  Hw was always happy to help, offer advice or just an ear to listen.  My heart goes out to his family & friends, I am so very very sorry for your loss.

Evan was one of the kindest souls that we have ever met. He has helped us so many times throughout our careers. He was loving, passionate and selfless. We will always remember him and be grateful. Our deepest condolences to his family. 

I worked with Evan at Regeneron and at Novartis.  He was a brilliant guy and always pushed us towards the ideal.  The entire launch team for the drug he was working on is shocked and saddened.  I will pray for your comfort.

I was new to Novartis last year and Evan and I worked closely together on one of my first projects. Because of Covid, I only met him virtually, but I could feel his warmth and humor from our first meeting. I'm so, so sad to hear of his passing. May his memory be a blessing. 

We have known Evan for nearly 30 years. Without doubt, one of the kindest, smartest, and funniest guys we’ve ever met. 

Our deepest sympathies to Brandon, Jason, and Heather. We will miss Evan deeply. 

Evan and I met about 12 years ago shortly after his wife passed. I was the  3-6pm daily babysitter for his two boys including making dinner and helping with homework.
He was so kind and generous and even let me bring my dog with me.
He took care of my dog if I had to be away.
He shopped at the kosher butcher for me.
He allowed me to use his basement for storage. He was so special and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

My deepest condolences over the loss of our beloved Evan.  He and I were work colleagues which developed into a caring friendship.  He was kind, compassionate, caring, and generous.  I will miss his wit and humor.  Evan had hosted a work reunion at this house a few years ago which will remain forever in my memories.   He will be deeply missed.
