Debbie Pearlman was a force of nature. She was strong, intelligent, and had a huge heart. She fiercely loved her husband, Joff, and her children, Alexis, Kyle, and Shelby. The eldest of three, Debbie was the leader in the family – organizing holidays, milestone celebrations, and group gifts. Her devotion to family was one of her core values, and her love emanated through her actions.
Debbie knew everyone! She was magnetic, and everyone that met her was drawn to her larger-than-life personality. She was an incredibly loyal friend and always was there to help when needed.
A fixture in her community of Woodcliff Lake, Debbie was a selfless volunteer for many years, helping at countless school and community events – even after her children graduated! She transformed these valuable connections into a successful career as a realtor, helping dozens of families find or sell their homes and transition to their next stage of life.
As charismatic as Debbie was, she never liked to be the center of attention, often having others speak instead of her at functions and events. Debbie always remembered others' names, and was great at asking about you, your children, or your job. She never liked to turn down an invitation, and always enjoyed celebrating with others.
Debbie’s battle with melanoma started four years ago when she had a small lesion removed. Although she was diligent about following up with her doctors, in March 2023 she learned that the melanoma returned and had spread.
Through her valiant fight, she endured immunotherapy, surgery, and countless tests. Her cancer was incredibly aggressive, and her decline was rapid. Debbie’s trademark strength and determination was evident during her battle with this horrid disease.
In Debbie’s honor and to help others suffering from this disease, we are raising funds to support The Melanoma Research Alliance. The Melanoma Research Alliance is the largest non-profit funder of melanoma research in the world. MRA funded research has fueled a revolution in immuno check-point and targeted therapies, and has helped to further advance prevention and detection. They were partners with us in Debbie’s fight – making sure we left no stone unturned. Our deepest appreciation to CEO, Dr. Marc Hurlbert. His advice and kindness, along with his 24-hour accessibility mean the world to our family.
Thanks to the generosity of its founders, Debra and Leon Black, 100% of every donation goes directly to research - no admin or development expenses incurred on donations.
Join us in driving research forward and fueling a revolution in melanoma. Together we can win this fight.
