Arthur Stamberg

Arthur Stamberg passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 27, 2022. Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marcia. His sons David (Nina) of Closter, NJ, and Eric (Robin) of Tillson, NY; his stepsons Michael Steinberg (Erica) of Chappaqua, NY and Dan Steinberg (Amy) of Sleepy Hollow, NY; and his Grandchildren: William, Sarah, Rachel, Sam, Dillon, Eden, Julia, and Lucy. Arthur loved his family tremendously and would have been pleased and happy knowing they were all together for his final moments.

Arthur grew up in Jersey City, NJ where he attended Snyder High School. He was in the Army from 1956-1958 before graduating from St. Peter’s College. He raised his sons in East Brunswick, NJ and later lived in Tenafly, NJ with Marcia, and her sons. He also lived in Englewood, NJ and most recently Briarcliff Manor, NY.

Arthur had a successful career in wholesale footwear and was well known for his time with Caressa. He will be remembered for having a great eye for fashion and being a true partner to do business with.

In the years after the shoe business, Arthur was a regular substitute in the Tenafly, NJ school system where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Detention”.

Arthur will be remembered fondly by everyone he met. He was funny, generous and always a gentleman.

Funeral service on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ at 11 AM.
