Ronald Ray Alden, also known as Ron, passed away on November 3, 2023, in Park City, IL, at the age of 74. Ron was born on October 31, 1949, in Joplin, MO. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
Ron lived generously in every way. He had a kind and giving spirit, always offering his time, possessions, and love to those around him. He was a great all around athlete who treated his opponents with kindness and respect, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by many.
Ron graduated from SIU with a bachelor's degree in science and education. He then pursued a career as a self-employed 4th generation piano tuner/technician. Ron's skill and work ethic were greatly appreciated by many in the Midwest.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kristen, his son Nate (Jill), his daughter Ashley Schmidgall (Derec), his mother Delores, and his grandchildren Ada, Hannah, Wylie, Wynn, and Weston. He also leaves behind his siblings Rich (Jocleda), Charlie (Terri), and Charlotte. Ron was preceded in death by his father, John Alden.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on Saturday, November 18th. The service will take place at Joy Lutheran Church in Gurnee, with a gathering time from 1:00 to 1:30. The service will follow from 1:30 to 2:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Contributions in Ron's memory will help support research and awareness for this important cause.
