AUGUST 1943 – JULY 2014
Robert (Bob) Malek, age 70, passed away suddenly on July 8, 2014. He is survived by his family and many, many friends. Associates with whom he worked respected his contributions to the construction industry that he loved. Most of his career was spent working with Aldridge Electric, Libertyville, Illinois. Robert was a Lifetime Member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150.
Survivors include his mother, Leona Malek, Lindenhurst, Illinois; 2 brothers, James Malek, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Lawrence (Lynn) Malek, Lake Villa, Illinois; 3 sisters, Carolyn (Lee) Hamkins, Pinckney, Michigan, Patricia (Sal) Zimmitti, San Diego, California and Linda (Barry) Konet, Madison, Connecticut; 5 nieces, 3 nephews, 3 great nephews, and 2 great nieces. Robert reveled in his role as Uncle Bobby to the delight of his nieces and nephews.
Robert enjoyed his many visits to Poland and learned to love the land from which his paternal grandparents had immigrated. He made lasting friendships there as well. He had a personality that filled a room and when he was around you were sure of a fun time. Always playful, always talking and always right!! He will be missed by his family and the many people who knew and loved him.
