Robert B. Kopochis, age 68, of Gurnee, Illinois passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Robert, better known as Bob, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family and dogs. Bob began his 40+ years as a fork lift truck mechanic at Barrett Electronics where he met his beloved wife, whom he married in 1982. Bob and his wife had three children, whom he lived for. Bob loved to spend his time relaxing in the pool, listening to Jimmy Buffett, and watching the Chicago Bears play.
Two weeks before Bob passed away, his family took him to his favorite place in Florida; a place Bob always wanted to retire and move to. Bob’s family will be taking his ashes to Florida and spreading them in the ocean to allow him to live out his final wish.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz); his sons Kevin and Jason; his daughter Meghan (Arthur) Amelio; his sister Marilyn (Robert) Pocius, his mother-in-law Wanda Burns; his sisters-in-law Kathleen Burns and Maureen (Greg) Bosco); his brothers-in-law Bryan (Jacqui) Burns and John Burns; his cousin Joan (Frank) Schipplick; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews; and his friends since childhood, Steve Harland, Joan Nelson, and Joe Spiegel. He will also be greatly missed by his furry friends: Bella, Charlie, Brady, Nala, Rizzo, and Mia. He was proceeded in death by his parents Bruno and Martha Kopochis; his father-in-law John Burns; and his sister-in-law Peggy Burns.
For the service, the family invites you to dress “Bob style” and dress casual. Chicago Bears attire encouraged, but out of respect for Bob, please no Green Bay Packer attire!
