Nancy Mary Hutchings

Nancy Hutchings (nee Bonk), 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2022. Nancy was born May 26, 1938, in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Florence Bonk (nee Furmanski). Nancy attended Chicago Catholic Grade Schools and Glenbrook North High School. Nancy would later meet her husband Dwayne Hutchings (Hutch). Hutch’s career in the US Navy would lead them to Jacksonville, Florida. It was there that Hutch passed away. With great strength and determination, Nancy moved her family back to Illinois, where she has resided since. She raised five children in Waukegan, IL and later moved to Gurnee, IL. Nancy took pride in being a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend and is loved by everyone. She retired after a successful career in civil service with the Department of the Army at Fort Sheridan, IL. She then continued working and volunteering supporting seniors and with the local PADS organization. Nancy enjoyed spending her time taking road trips experiencing new adventures. She loved playing bingo, going to the casino, and creating arts and crafts. Nancy truly lived every day to the fullest through the simple pleasures in life. We will remember Nancy for her generous spirit, big warm smile and quick wit.

Nancy is survived by her children Julie (Ralph) Calvano, Gary Hutchings, Thomas Hutchings, Tammy (Douglas) McPherson, Melissa (Nicholas) Pollotta; sister, Joyce (Victor) Castle; sister-in-law, Eileen (Gordon) Bonk; grandchildren, Neal (Amy) Dzierla, Jaime Hutchings, Andrew (Jessica) Calvano, Alex (Maggie) Calvano, Haley Hutchings, Nathan Hutchings, Tyler (Alexis) McPherson, Ellie (Matthew) Banis, Kyla McPherson, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Florence Bonk, husband Dwayne Hutchings, brother Gordon (Eileen) Bonk, brother-in-law Victor (Joyce) Castle, and son-in-law Nicholas (Melissa) Pollotta.

Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee, IL on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
