Maria was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She earned a degree in nursing at the College of Lake County and retired as a registered nurse. Maria's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children Angie, Richie, Priscilla; her grandchildren Brittany, Chris, Eli, Tatiana, Giovanni, Joey, David, Isabella, Lexi, Jayleen, Janelle, Licet; her great-grandchildren Jovan Jr. Kai, Gracie, Winter, Ezekiel, Elianna, Nala, and her siblings Eddie, Tony, Efrain Jr., Carmen, Iris, Janet, and Abigail.
Maria is preceded in death by parents Efrain and Maria Mendez, two brothers Fernando and David Mendez, and two sisters Marta Arroyo and Elba M. Mendez.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Maria that will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
