Margaret Albarran, age 74, died peacefully on July 21, 2022 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN after a tragic accident. Margaret was born on November 10, 1947 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Monica (nee Burgos) and Felix Rivera. She moved to the Chicago area as a young girl and attended North Chicago schools throughout her childhood. She began working at Abbott Laboratories at the age of 17 and retired as a supervisor in the diagnostic division at the age of 55, after which she began her adventures in Tennessee.
Margaret loved Tennessee and the Smokey Mountains and loved living in Sevierville. She embraced her life there and enjoyed volunteering at the senior center, singing in the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church, bowling every week, and exploring different attractions throughout the area, especially when her friends and family were in town.
She touched many lives with her kindness and generosity, and her undeniable faith and love for God. She was known for her beautiful and energetic spirit, warm smile, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. She was truly one of a kind.
Margaret is survived by her children Roman Albarran, Sonia (Greg) Arty, and Monica (Michael) Sweeney, and their father Gabriel Albarran; grandchildren Michael Malone, Marquis Arty, Julian Albarran, Marc Anthony (Sadie) Albarran, Anayah Albarran, Cortez Albarran, Kyah Arty, Lilliana Albarran, Ethan Albarran, Jaylen Arty, Michael Sweeney, Mikayla Sweeney, and Matthew Sweeney; great-grandchildren Nasir and Nova Malone; brothers Israel (Jackie) and Alfredo (Donna) Rivera, sister Santa Vazquez, as well as many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: Monica Rivera, mother; Felix Rivera, father; Felicita (Fela) Martinez, sister; Felix Rivera, brother; Carmen Fernandez, sister; Justiniano (Joe) Rivera, brother; Hipolyta (Pola) Simpson, sister; Carlos Rivera, brother; Delores (Lola) Cruz, sister; Isaiah Gabriel Albarran, grandson.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5-8 pm at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, 10 am at Most Blessed Trinity Parish, 450 Keller Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085. Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville, IL 60048.
