Kendra was a life long resident of Lake County having graduated from Waukegan High School. She went on to attend St Francis School of Nursing where she earned her X-Ray Technician certification and began a career working for St. Therese Hospital, Penn, Mauer and Baer, The Lake County Health Department and the Lake County TB clinic. She found joy in retirement working with Woodland Schools as a teacher’s aide and cafeteria worker.
Kendra was married to Brian Golwitzer in 1971. They had three children Jennifer, Brian and Kristin. Though Brian and Kendra are no longer married, the Golwitzer family remains a cherished part of Kendra’s family tree. She dedicated many hours to her kids through her active participation in church, VBS, Rainbow Girls, DeMolay and all of the countless choir concerts in middle school, high school and college. For that, they are forever grateful.
Kendra’s true passion was service to others. She could be found serving meals at the First United Methodist Church Free Meal, building boxes of food for families in need or putting together Christmas magic for families around the community. Her corned beef dinners were a family tradition and her meal prep was always enough to feed an army whether it was a meal for 2 or 200! Kendra loved Christmas, fruitcake, giving presents and Santa and she spread that joy to her kids and grandkids. We know that she is sitting on a couch talking to her mom and dad, sipping on a cup of black coffee, surrounded by a cuddle party of puppies and watching something on the TV with Tom Selleck or Harrison Ford!
Kendra leaves to carry on her legacy of service, her children Jennifer (Glenn) Sutton, Brian (Bettina) Golwitzer Jr., Kristin (Brian) Witt, her grandchildren (who lovingly called her Grandma Sweetcheeks) Brayden, Emily, Haley, Avery and Cooper, her dear friends and sisters-in-law, Jackie Verne and Dawn (Jesse) Arroyo, former husband Brian (Lori) Golwitzer, nieces and nephews Roger (Joanne) Verne, Tracy (David) Stiver, Tammy (Tim) Bullard, Gary (Inessa) Golwitzer, Wayne (Jenny) Walles, Tina (Tom) Davis, Debbie Buff, Sandie (Bill) Moy, Linda (Mike) Beausoleil, many great-neices and nephews, cousins and dear friends Susan Turner and Debbie Pasiewicz.
