Karen Ann Dowling

Karen Ann (Winandy) Dowling, 75 of Grayslake passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024. She was born April 17, 1949 in Chicago, the daughter of late Peter Henry Winandy II and late Raetta (Santler) Winandy. Beloved wife of Bill Dowling. Loving stepmother of Jeff (Becky) Dowling. Loving grandmother to Julia and Jackie Dowling. Loving aunt to Joseph, Jamie and late Brian Winandy, Jerry and Kristina Hughes, and many others. Dear sister of the late Peter H. Winandy III, late Blair (Terri) Winandy, and Brett (Donna) Winandy.

After retiring as a devoted special education teacher, she was known for always being there for her grandchildren, niece and nephew. She was also known for keeping up with all friends and family while maintaining a busy schedule of lunches with friends, attending activities of her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, traveling with Bill, hair appointments, and weekly nail appointments with Tarin. She was known for her soft nature and ability to connect with any child. She will be missed for her laughter and positive energy that was a light onto the world.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Karen on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 from 8:30 - 10:30am at Marsh Funeral Home 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031 followed by a funeral mass at 11am at St. Paul of the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
