November 13, 1933, Jack was born in Waukegan, IL. He was the proud son of Edward May and Jane Ross May. After high school, he joined the Navy in 1956 where he was a Medic. In 1957 he was transferred and stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
Jack worked most of his life at Manville. When he retired, he worked part time in the office at Warren High School. Warren is where he spent his time not only working, but with the basketball program as the team statistician. You could always find him any day during the week at basketball practice or on the weekends at a game rooting for the Blue Devils.
In September 1982, at the age of 49, Jack became a father for the first time. He devoted his entire life and a lot of love to his daughter. Not only was he the greatest Dad, in 2014 he was promoted to being the greatest loving Grandpa.
Jack might of grew up later in life, but he was always young at heart. The last few years of his life he liked to travel to Hawaii, attend spring training games in Florida, go out to eat, especially on Thursdays with his daughter and granddaughter, work out 5 days a week at the Field House, and spend time with his family, who loved every minute with him. He knew what it was like to live life to the fullest.
Jack is survived by his daughter Denise, son in law Nate, granddaughter Devyn, and step daughters Teresa and Vicky. He is also survived by his sisters Pat, Theresa, Jean, his brother Ed, numerous nieces, nephews and his best friend Mike.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday November 22 at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL from 1pm to 4pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4pm.
