John Carter Bennett

John C. Bennett, age 53, of Gurnee passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. John was born on May 12, 1969 in Buffalo, NY to Gerald and Sally (Evans) Bennett. He grew up in Hamburg, NY and graduated from Frontier High School in 1987. John joined the U.S. Navy in October 1998 and served proudly until his honorable discharge and retirement in 2018, where he achieved the rank of Quartermaster First Class. John married Luz Arceo on October 5, 2001 in Japan. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee and the Libertyville American Legion Post #329. John enjoyed many things including fishing, reading and writing poetry, art and playing his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Bennett.

John is survived by his wife, Luz Bennett; two children, Vivianne Yamanishi and Benjamin Arceo Bennett; his mom, Sally Bennett; three siblings, Lorie (Robert) McClure, Jerry (April) Bennett and Patrick Bennett as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for John will be held at the Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL) with military honors to follow.
