George Athanasopoulos

George Athanasopoulos, 85 passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. George will be remembered as a hardworking, respected, kind man that loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years, Tina; children, Eleni, Kostas (Jessica), Panagiota (Ioannis); grandchildren, George, Dino, Nikoleta, Anastasios, Georgios; sibling, Spiros (late Niki), and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Konstantinos & Eleni; siblings, Christos, Georgia (Elias), and Stavroula; in-laws Panagioti and Eleni.

Funeral Services for George will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1400 N. O’Plaine Road in Libertyville). A visitation will be held at St. Demetrios Church on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. Immediately following the service, interment will take place at New Gracanica Orthodox Cemetery in Third Lake, IL.
