Dale D Gordon was an amazing man and we are so grateful for each day of his time with us. He was a wonderful husband to Jinnie, who he always referred to as his bride. They met on a blind date set up by her uncle and he swore that when he went to pick her up she came to the door and that he knew he was going to marry her, and he did. He and Jinnie were married for 63 years. They never let a day go by without saying “I love you” and hold their hands.
He was the best dad to Diana (Jonathan) Stern and Donna Gordon-Clem. He made them ice rinks in the winter, went sledding with them down the hill in their backyard (joined by half the neighborhood), swimming in the summer, and often piled nieces and nephews in the station wagon with them and drove to Dairy Queen, the park or even Lakehurst Mall, singing with them the whole way.
Dale was a doting and loving grandfather to Veronica J Garcia (JP Helms), Jennifer Golden (Daniel), Jessica Clem, and Brandon Clem (Kayla Shenning). His great-grandchildren; Mateo, Janelle, Zachary, Cameron, Cyan, Lily, Remy, Romeo, Scarlett and Seth always made his eyes light up and his smile shine.
Dale loved and was loved by so many. He was kind and generous, sassy and goofy, loving and caring. He was there whenever you needed him. Anyone that knew him knows he loved to laugh, never met a stranger, and loved to make people smile. We will think of him every time we look at roses blooming, his paintings, find pictures in the clouds, the mountains, the sunrises and sunsets, and so many other things big and small. He taught us life lessons and silly things, showed us how to love and gave us traditions even if it was just words to say, to use and hold, and pass down. So many of us are sad and hurting right now, so we’d like to not only carry down a tradition but teach you a well-known phrase from Dale.
If you are hurting and sad, Dale’s advice is this -“Look at the bright side, in 100 years you won’t remember this day.” Today our reply is, "We will love you, forever and always. And we’ll miss you for 99 years and 364 days.”
We invite you to join us in celebrating Dale’s life with a viewing January 23, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031 and services, Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM, also at Marsh Funeral Home, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery.
As a landscape artist, color was very important to Dale. His favorite colors were blue and purple. We would love to have you forgo traditional black and wear color to celebrate this exceptional man.
