Conrad was born September 23, 1929 in Waukegan, IL to Clarence and Virginia Halteman. On September 15, 1951, he married Irene M. Halteman (nee Grabowski) in her hometown of Bessemer, MI. He completed degrees in nursing from Alexian Brothers, a speciality in Anesthesiology, and was Director of Anesthesia at Victory Memorial Hospital (Vista Medical Center) in Waukegan. He attended Our Lady of Humility Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served the church as a Eucharistic Minister.
Conrad had many interests in life. He was an avid photographer spending time in a darkroom he built himself. He also built a cabin on a lake in the woods of Wisconsin providing a getaway for family and friends for many years. Conrad loved to travel and took his family on many wonderful vacations. Later in life he and his wife Irene traveled the world to places in Europe, the Holy Land and Egypt.
Conrad is survived by his beloved children, Mary (Rick) Ruffolo, Sue (Rich) Plath, Karen (Paul) Delaney, Joe (Takako) Halteman, Bob Halteman and Dave (Erika) Halteman; grandchildren, Nicholas Halteman, Emma Halteman and Mia Halteman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene of 68 years, parents Clarence and Virginia, brother, Mahlon (Bud), and sister, Marilyn.
A visitation for Conrad will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.at St Paul the Apostle Church,6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, Illinois followed by a private family interment at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
