Anthony P. Modica, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on November 4, 2017. He was born on August 2, 1929 to Charles and Domenica Modica, and was a Waukegan resident for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Pencak. Anthony proudly served in the U.S. Army where he drove an ammunitions carrier, was a bugler, and field tested 80mm artillery weapons. After his military discharge he married Jeanette Lassen and they shared 61 wonderful years together until her death in 2015. He is survived by his children Susan (Mike) Perez, Bill (Shelley) Modica, Gary (Rachel) Modica, and Charles Modica, his devoted caregiver. He was the grandfather of Ashley, Anthony, and Marissa, and the great grandfather of Mackenzie, Michael, Christian, and Randall. Anthony was an accomplished photographer and artist. He participated in many juried art shows in Lake and Cook Counties. His distinctive photography style regularly won "Best in Show" awards. Anthony's creativity was also recognized by co-workers at Deringer Manufacturing where he was employed for 25 years as a machinist of precious metals. He earned the nickname of "The King" for his ability to find solutions to the most difficult mechanical problems. Anthony's goal in life was to provide for his wife and children and he successfully accomplished that goal. He was greatly admired by his family and will be forever loved and missed.
