Nica Piera Susanne Tavascia

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Nica Piera Susanne Tavascia on December 31, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family at Hospice Wellington. Beloved mother of Kayla Francis and Sabrina Burton. Loving grandmother of Jeremiah, Keon, Deandra and Tayden. Cherished daughter of Frank Tavascia. Predeceased by her mother Shirley Walters and by her sister Erika Tavascia. Nica will be greatly missed by her extended family, friends and by her fur babies Molly and Jezebel whom she loved with all of her heart.

Nica had an ongoing battle with substandard health over the last several years. It is consoling knowing that she did not exit this life in pain and that we had the opportunity to be with her during her last days. We know life without her will not be easy, but she taught us that while we can’t avoid adversity, it is important to face it head on with a positive attitude, bravery, a kind heart and a smile.

Our Nonno Frank, Kayla and myself would like to give thanks to our family and friends who have showed considerable support during these times. Also, our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Hospice Wellington for making our mother’s last few days serene and bearable for our family.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home- Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph (519-821-5077). Following Nica’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date at which time Nica’s ashes will be entombed at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Nica’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Hospice Wellington.
