It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Walcot on February 7th, 2023, in her 94th year.
Nancy was a loving wife to her late husband John for 69 wonderful years. She was known to her family as Mumsie, the beloved mother to Ann (Hucal) and her husband Richard, Peter Walcot and Jodi Moore, Robert and Elma Walcot and her youngest son Bradley Walcot.
She was a proud grandmother of Amy Hucal and her husband Tom Fuke, Thomas Hucal, Jessica Walcot and Jaden Walcot all of whom will forever cherish memories of their “Nan”, as they called her. Beloved great grandmother “GG” of Claire Fuke.
Nancy is survived by her dear brothers, Patrick and James Onions, and was predeceased by their parents, Robert and Mary Onions (nee Bowker).
Mumsie will be fondly remembered by the entire Walcot and Onions families, including her many nieces and nephews and all of their children. Nancy’s countless friends include the dear past and present members of “The Silly Club”, her Wellesley Nursing School classmates and the special people that have been such a big part of her life since moving to Guelph.
Nancy was passionate about several things, including folk art painting which she studied, practiced and taught to others for decades. She loved to travel and share time with friends and family, enjoying the odd “rye & water” (her favourite cocktail), along the way. Mumsie was a voracious shopper and had a sweet tooth that was second to none! More than anything else, she loved to laugh and make others do so as well, which she did right through to her final days.
Our entire family would like to extend our warmest thanks to those at Guelph General Hospital and ParaMed, who provided our Mother with exceptional levels of care, the Right at Home PSW’s and the simply amazing staff at Arbour Trails that truly loved her. It was the combined efforts of her caregivers that allowed Mumsie to pass peacefully and painlessly at home, which is where she wanted to be. Words cannot describe our thanks to each and every one of you who touched her life since moving to Arbour Trails.
We take solace in the fact that Nancy and John, forever “Mumsie and Dude” in our hearts are now reunited and looking down on us with love.
